1. Nature of This Reference
Connecticut Residents Directory is operated as a private reference to public rolls, indexes, and historical directories about people who live or once lived in Connecticut. It does not store government files and is not part of a town, state, court, or records office.
2. Permitted Use
Use this service only in ways allowed by law. You may not use the service or information reached through it to:
- Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or injure someone
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make a decision covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
- Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
- Interfere with the site's operation or security
3. No Consumer Reports
This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.). Neither its contents nor results from a linked search provider are consumer reports, and neither may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose governed by that law.
4. Outside Links and Providers
State and municipal portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search providers set their own terms. We do not control those services, their prices, their content, or their handling of information.
5. No Guarantee
This service is offered "as is" and "as available" without a warranty. We make no promise that a page is accurate, complete, or up to date, or that an outside portal will remain available or return a correct result.
6. Limits of Liability
As far as the law permits, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss tied to use of the service or an outside source, including action taken in reliance on a record.
7. Responsibility for Misuse
You agree to protect the site's operators from claims, demands, and reasonable attorneys' fees that result from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Copyright and Reuse
Copyright protects the site's original writing, design, logo, and page layout. You may link to a page or quote a short excerpt with credit, but you may not republish whole pages or copy the material systematically.
9. Revisions
We can revise these terms by posting a replacement on this page. Continued use after the new version appears signals acceptance.
10. Restricting Access
We may limit or end access for a person who abuses the service or breaks these terms. We may do so at our discretion and without advance notice.
11. Connecticut Law
Connecticut law governs these terms, without applying its conflict-of-law rules. Public-record access described here is governed by the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, C.G.S. §§1-200 through 1-242, including §1-210 on access and §1-212 on copies and fees.
12. Severability
If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.
