Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that returns results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you send us a message, we receive the details in it and use them to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Hosting systems record standard access data, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of the request. We review this information in aggregate to maintain the service and learn which pages receive visits. Cookies or similar tools may help with basic analytics and, when used, ad measurement.
How the Information Is Used
We use the limited data described above to run the reference, resolve technical issues, measure traffic, and improve its pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and we do not make individual user profiles.
External Sites and Search Providers
Links lead to Connecticut town and state record offices, libraries, archives, and outside search tools. Their own privacy terms govern information you enter on their services. Sponsored search results are also delivered by a separate provider, whose data practices are outside this policy.
Who May Receive Information
Our hosting and other service providers process access logs as part of operating the site. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data noted above. We disclose information when a valid legal demand requires it.
Safeguards and Retention
Connections to the site are encrypted. Access logs are kept only for as long as they serve the purposes already described. Because the service has no accounts, it holds no visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under Age 18
This reference is intended for adults, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has provided information, and we will remove it.
Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Connecticut's Data Privacy Act, C.G.S. §§42-515 et seq., gives consumers rights to access, correct, delete, and receive a portable copy of personal data held by covered businesses, and to opt out of certain sales, targeted advertising, and profiling. Covered controllers generally have 45 days to answer, with a possible extension in some cases. Since January 1, 2025, covered controllers must also honor universal opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control. These rules do not make public agencies' records disappear.
To ask what this service holds, contact us through the Contact page. We can check our message mailbox and access logs for information tied to your request. Public records held by a Connecticut town or state office remain under that custodian's control; access is governed by the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, C.G.S. §§1-200 through 1-242, including §1-210 on access and §1-212 on copies and fees. Direct record requests to the office that keeps the file.
